In a recent post regarding the impact of social media on healthcare, a handful of opinions and articles were highlighted offering many different ways in which the patient experience or patient care in general could be enhanced using tools such as twitter.
Perhaps in contrast of those views, are the results of our most recent poll question, which asked, “Which social media tools and platforms (if any) do you use to keep updated on health IT subjects and news?”
Both LinkedIn and Blogs received 31%, while RSS feeds, Facebook, Twitter and None all hovered close to only 10%. Does this fly in the face of the opinions on ways social media (Facebook and Twitter) can impact healthcare? It depends on one’s perspective. The “half full” types will conclude that we are still finding our way, while the “half empty” crowd might feel vindicated that they never wasted time on such endeavors. Who will ultimately be right? Let’s pick this conversation back up in two years and I think we’ll have the answer.
