A Message to our Readers: HL7 Standards Website Update

“Wise and prudent men – intelligent conservatives – have long known that in a changing world worthy institutions can be conserved only by adjusting them to the changing time.” – Franklin D. Roosevelt

The healthcare information technology industry is changing every day. New policies are approved, new technology is developed and innovative minds are challenged in the most creative ways.

Over the next month there will also be a number of exciting changes taking place on HL7 Standards. The website update is intended to take advantage of some new technology and features available and respond to the changing landscape of information sharing and social networking.

The following changes are an example of the new features to be phased in throughout the next month:

  • A real-time RSS feed directly connecting you to key influencers on health care delivery and technology
  • A refreshed directory of current resources on Meaningful Use, healthcare standards, and health IT & interoperability initiatives
  • An authors section of the site featuring editors, regular contributors and guest bloggers
  • A new events section with segmented event updates
  • Optimized social media sharing capabilities

I would also like to take this moment to introduce you to our newest blogger, Mark Munns. Mark is a first year medical student at University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, TX. He has experience in basic research and is rapidly immersed in the world of healthcare. Mark will provide HL7 Standards readers with a unique perspective on the advancement of healthcare and technology and his experiences and insights as a future physician.

If you have any feedback or suggestions on additional features we should consider regarding the website update, please feel free to contact us.

Sincerely,

Erica Olenski

Managing Editor of HL7 Standards
