Popular tracks at HIMSS11? Poll Results

HIMSS11 is behind us, and as many of you have indicated on Twitter and Facebook, it is likely you are finishing up your HIMSS follow-up/to-do list of LinkedIn network requests, summary blog posts and network follows. Although the excitement leading up to HIMSS has diminished, the attitudes following the conference have remained optimistic and energized regarding the year ahead.

Prior to HIMSS11 and throughout the month of February, we asked our readers what tracks at HIMSS11 they were most interested in attending this year:

Per the responses from readers, HIE use seemed to be the biggest interest among health IT professionals at the conference this year. For a tie in second place, EHR use and interoperability were also top of mind for attendees. Surprisingly, Meaningful Use and IT infrastructure were less anticipated than a number of witty responses to the “other” category option.

Reflecting on your personal experience at HIMSS11, do you feel that these categories accurately reflected the focus of the conference? Which topic(s) did you feel received the most attention this year? Which topics do you anticipate to be the focus for HIMSS12?

    3 letters: ACO

There was also a great deal of discussion about Accountable Care Organizations…

Great point. ACOs would have been a good item to include in the poll. Do you think the discussion around ACOs will continue into HIMSS next year, or die out before then?

I think that there is little chance it will die out by next year. But most of the discussion on ACO included HIE. John Glaser wrote a great piece on the subject:
