HL7 First Steps

HL7 First Steps gives you a solid understanding of HL7 basics and analyzes the importance of an HL7 interface within the healthcare application environment. Seminar participants learn:

• HL7 standard and how it is used in healthcare institutions
• Become familiar with different HL7 versions and how HL7 specifications are organized
• Observe typical HL7 communication flows
• Interpret HL7 terminology, including cardinality and optionality
• Recognize an HL7 message and the basic HL7 encoding rules
• Realize why HL7 is often called a “framework for negotiation
